Temporary Car Insurance

I am looking to insure my student daughter for a week's insurance on the car over the Easter hols. She is 19 years old, has been driving without incident for over 18 months. I took her off my insurance when she went off to Uni but now although these companies suggest they will insure anyone on a short term basis, I keep getting knocked back with this sort of message.

Unfortunately our insurers are unable to offer you a quote; this could be due to age, vehicle or postcode restrictions. Please check that all your details were entered correctly, if so then regrettably we cannot help on this occasion.

Has anyone experience of this and can make any recommendations? I have done moneysupermarket, gocompare and compare the market with no success and tried googling - again with no success.

Maybe I'm missing something but why can't you phone your current insurer and get her added on for a week?

Unfortunately the car came with one year's free insurance from Volkswagen for me and my husband and they won't insure anyone under 21 years on it.

Have you tried Dayinsure, who offer temporary insurance from age 19 upwards?
If they decline, it's probably going to be due to the type of car - is it a high-powered or expensive model?

I wish :-) It's just a Polo 1.2 - but new on March 1st.
