Refund for goods under warranty

I purchased a computer direct from HP in the UK online last May. The computer failed to turn on after one month and was taken in for repair. I received a refurbished unit in August after 9 weeks of leaving the computer in repair. My replacement unit now has the same fault and will not turn on. I have insisted to HP that I would like a refund for the unit and as I understand it, I should be entitled to a refund after the unit has been returned under the consumer rights act as it is the second unit to fail within my warranty period. HP are refusing to issue me a refund and state that they do not need to do so regardless of the consumer rights act. Could anyone give me any clarification on this please?
Many Thanks

You probably have no right to a refund if you are looking for a remedy under the manufacturer's warranty, which you title suggests.I purchased a computer direct from HP in the UK online last May. However, under Section 24 of The Consumer Rights Act the seller is allowed just one attempt at making the goods conform to contract, after which a refund is due using the 'final right to reject'.
As it is more that six months since the sale, the refund can be reduced to take account of the use you have had.
Having said all that, it is wrong, and can amount to a criminal offence, if the seller is denying you your statutory rights.
I suspect that whoever at HP told you that you couldn't have a refund was more used to dealing with warranty repairs, but that really is not a good excuse.
How did you pay for this purchase?
Did you use credit? Maybe a credit card?0
