Probationary period whilst trying to get a mortgage

Hi everyone,

So, basically what the title says, I'm currently in my 6 month probationary period at work and am trying to get a mortgage with my partner on a house we absolutely love. We've had a MIP from Coventry BS but I'm getting nervous that now we've got as far as them doing checks with our payslips, statements etc that this might go against me :(

My current employer has wrote back to Coventry after they contacted them saying that yes, I am in my probationary period, but it is coming to an end soon and they were "sure that I would be passing with flying colours" - does them saying this help at all?

A bit of background: myself and my partner are first-time buyers. House is a bit less (£45,000) than the amount they were willing to lend us in principle, and our deposit is just over 12.5%. Partner has been in his role for over 18 months and is the main earner. I'm 6 weeks away from passing my probationary period in my current role. We relocated in June last year and I kept my job in my old town remotely until end of July. I got a new job not long after but unfortunately it didn't work out (the role wasn't at all like I was told it would be in the interview process, amongst other issues... I realised a month or so after and I handed in my notice) and started current job in November. All in all, it meant it was less than 3 months unemployed but I'm a bit concerned how that'll look...

Any experiences anyone has had that are similar or any advice at all would be useful. I might be worrying unnecessarily but being a FTB means I'm a bit unsure and nervous

Thanks everyone.

I could believe things have changed since I bought my first house (10 years ago), but all they wanted to see was 3 months of payslips. They wouldn't have known if I was 5 months into a 6 month probation, all they knew was that I'd been paid the last 3 months.

They sent a letter to my employer asking if I was in my probationary period, amongst other things (how much I earnt, was I permanent, full time, did I get overtime, bonuses etc), so they definitely do know that I am :(

I'm obviously very new to this, so I'm not sure if that's standard practise or not, maybe for FTB...
