Hi,
My partner is moving in with me, and when I the inform the council about council tax changes it says the bill will be in both our names. With the bill being in both are names if they have a bad credit history will this affect mine as up to now mine is fairly decent?

I am on the electoral register at our house (moved in with partner who was previously on the single person discount) and am not on the council tax bill that I am aware of - certainly I don't get billed and it's addressed to my partner. There are no financial links on Equifax or CallCredit for me. We do not have any joint financial products

Council tax doesn’t create a financial association on credit reports.

Council Tax doesn't show on credit records but in any case you'd have no choice over who's named on the demand notice as it's defined in legislation.
CraigI no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -

As a resident partner you should be named as jointly liable on the council tax demand notice.
