Pip application refused

Hi all..
I had a first time pip assessment at the start of this month..thought I'd give them a call today to track the progress and was told that a decision had been made and I would receive the letter in the post next week. The decision was that I would not be awarded anything for both components. I'm going to wait for the letter to come through but really don't want to go through the appealing process..
Has anyone got any advice or want to share their experience.

The letter from the DWP should give you a summary of what points you were awarded. You can request a copy of the HCP's PA4 report that will (I believe) provide more detail.
It's hard to say what you should do without that information, or indeed, without knowledge of your specific health issues.
If you disagree with the conclusions reached by the DWP based on the HCP's report, you can request a Mandatory Reconsideration, but that (it seems) only rarely works, you would have to go to appeal if you wanted to challenge the decision.0 -
not wanting to increase you angst, but if I recall correctly you're also a full time student and have applied for ESA? Without PIP/DLA you're not able to claim ESA as a full time student (unless you're not currently a student)0

I would certainly go for a Mandatory Reconsideration, as you have nothing to lose....The MR is quite a painless exercise, mine only took three weeks, unfortunately not many decisions are overturned at the MR stage, mine wasn't, but you have to go through the process if you want to go to tribunal......good luck.....Jack.Retired (Early) April 20150

i am a full time student but have been a module retriever for this academic year so i just submit the outstanding assignments. I am not in receipt of funding for this year as its a repeat. I was working in november and fell sick a week in, since ive been in and out of hospital so applied for ESA..Im not sure how the system is set up b0

not sure of the implications of that, you'd need to speak to DWP0

This is a good guide to the appeal process:
http://www.advicenow.org.uk/guides/how-win-pip-appeal
MR proforma:
https://www.leicester.gov.uk/media/178163/mandatory-reconsideration-request.pdf
But don't expect the MRN to change the decision, you will need to take it to tribunal to get the DWP decision reviewed thoroughly . Be mindful of the 1 month deadlines.
PIP points system:

This is a useful resource on how the descriptors should be interpreted:

Can you get help with the appeal from your local CAB / advice agency?
