Product not fit for purpose after 8 months... help!

Hi all,
So June/July 2016 I bought a new rabbit hutch and cover. The cover was advertised to fit this particular style hutch, and was described as "Thermal Winter Rain/Sun Cover".
All built and fitted fine. 8 months down the line, both zips have broken (stitching come undone and the zips "split" when doing them up) and the clear front has perished and ripped.

The cover never got removed from the hutch, and only the front would be un-zipped and opened (folder back onto hutch roof)

I contacted the company I bought it from, and sent pictures etc, and all seemed like they were going to send me a new one... no, all they've offered me was a new cover for half the price?

Do I have to accept this? I believe it is not unreasonable to expect a cover described as a winter rain/sun cover to last at least a year.

I've looked into my consumer rights, and I'm not 100%clear if I am entitled to a new cover FOC? I want to go back to them and quote "as per consumer rights act..." but worried I have to accept their offer?

Your thoughts?

You say "8 months down the line". Was it eight months before you reported the issue to the seller?

If so, then you may need to prove that your issues are not due to fair wear and tear or misuse.
