Apply for new card or ask for increase?

in Credit cards
Just looking for some advice, I have a virgin card with £3500 limit I don't think they did a credit search for this as I can't see it on my file, at the same time I applied for barclaycard and received a £5000 limit, these I can see did do a search. We're getting married in June and could just do with a little more maybe 1000-1500. I'm just not sure whether to go for another 0% interest card or ask for virgin to increase, on there site it states limit increases can be asked for after the 7th statement, Ive only had it since Nov 16 so 5, coming up for 6 months. I'm not near my limit yet I have £2400 left but I'm paying our honeymoon on it in a week which will be £2000, so then will be close to the limit.
Also if I was to ask for an increase, would it be best to ask now before I get close to the limit or after? Just abit dubious with not having it quite 6 months yet and although 3 cards seems exesive, thinking for this one off big occcasion to go for it if I've more chance of getting it than an increase.
My credit score is 916 and good. I do have other things like mobile phone, laptop on credit paying monthly, store cards. But I can't use the credit on those for what I want, and it needs to be interest free! Thanks in advance.

If you're happy with the cards, you've got, then ask for a limit increase.
However, two cards doesn't give you much in the way of back up if you run into problems. More than 15 cards could be deemed excessive - 3 certainly isn't.
I'd look for a decent 0% offer if you can get one. Depends on your credit history (not your score, obviously).0 -
Thank you, just worried of been declined for an increase with it been early on and then that affecting my credit history making getting a new 0% one harder.0

BTW it doesn't harm your score to request a limit increase from within your cards, and you have a very good score, as proved by the £5000 limit with barclays. i don't know about virgin, but with barclaycards you can request a limit increase every 3 months, so i would definitely go for this option!0

They recently changed it to every 4 months...0 -
okay oh dear. actually i think you can apply for a new increase if you don't get it, then you can apply again in one month. only if you get it you have to wait 4 months, or if you reduce the limit, then you have to wait 8. I don't know if it is better to ask for a bigger or a smaller limit though. Because the first time i asked for a big increase, and they said no. then the next time i asked for £200 i think extra, and they said yes. it also goes on the household income, but i don't know how much of this is what you state on the form, and how much they get from checking your finance sheets....0
