I just picked 2 weeks from July 4th. This is for 2 people though, a family wouldn't be so easy...
The key is to choose the flexible dates option, as that is what wipes off 25%+ off of the cost.
This is the same for LastMinute.com too.0 -

Ah, OK, I checked...that's on Air India I think? Heard way too many bad reviews to consider it myself.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
What airline are you flying on at £280 in July? Air India - if so agree the reviews don't look great? Anyone any positive experiences?!0

I flew manchester-Tulsa then MSP-Manchester. I priced the flights up 4 months before - £649, then forgot, priced them up 1 month before and they came in at £408 -
bargainous
check out continental - that's who I flew.....0 -
Interesting that you found a more last minute deal better! Although it's kinda frustrating and that means i still don't know what course to take

I'll have a go with Continental.0 -
Thanks for the replies, unfortunately AA aren't that great from my searching, and using the United Vacations website (who seem to use AA) return flights from Gatwick to Chicago are circa £1k.
I managed to speak to my sisters American colleague who has suggested South West Airlines as a type of EasyJet for internal flights. Returning from Chicago using Travelocity is £280ish and South West from Las Vegas back to Chicago is just £65!
So thats my best total so far... £345!! :j
are you absolutely sure that you are reading it right.
£280 sounds like its likely to be a one way fare from London to Chicago, NOT a return fare.

Yes mate, it's definetly return.
There are issues though, first, Heathrow instead of Gatwick, and secondly Chicago has one airport for international and one for internal, so we'd have to get to a different airport in time for the internal flight!
There is also Air India to research... but ultimately, if i wanted to go with a normal airline and go from Gatwick the next cheapest is £270 more and isn't direct!
Interestingly the cheapest flight is on a Friday too, i thought mid-week would be best.0 -

Well you've stumped me :beer::j
I've just done the search on Travelocity and theres nothing coming back that is even close to £260
, most dates are £500 odd and later on in the month over £600 each
As regards Chicago having two airports (I thought that it might even be more than that ! the important thing is to make sure that your internal flights arrive at the same airport as your departure - as long as its Chicago O Hare, you're sorted.
If your airline (Southwest ?) don't fly to O Hare, pick another one that does - there's loads and loads to choose from.:j

Yes, you're right, mainly you're looking at about £570.
Any suggestions on the alternative internal airlines? Obviously going to O'Hare would be great, but then SWA are only £60 to get back to Chicago from Las Vegas which i imagine is difficult to beat!0 -
