Parking Charge Notice - Astle Park

Hi

I received a parking charge notice from Smart Parking through the post today when shopping at the Astle Retail Park in West Bromwich.

It's an ANPR notice and shows picture of car there entering and leaving for duration of 1hr 20mins. As I don't live in the area and was visiting I didn't notice any signs to pay parking otherwise I would have done. I even checked a few other car windscreens and didn't notice any pay or display stickers so didn'think much of it

I have not yet appealed or done anything.. What's my next course of action? Did look at newbies thread but it's a minefield! Thanks

Take your time to thoroughly read the NEWBIES. Not so Smart are BPA members so you should send the BPA template in blue you will find in the NEWBIES.

Copy and paste and send without editing. Do not reveal who was driving at any point, not even on here.

Don't miss the appeal deadline. After that you need to start researching PoPLA appeals. Start with the template appeal points in post 3 of the NEWBIES.

Come back here if you need further help.

The above advice assumes you do not live in Scotland or NI.

Also complain to your MP, Mrs May, and Andrew Jones MP abut this unregulated scam industry.

  • Before appealing is it worth submitting an email to Astle park landowners LCP properties first. Obviously not revealing anything but being very blunt and see if they will cancel?

Yes, a landowner cancellation is always the best way of killing this off.

Write one or copy one from the thread about successful complaints...the thread maintained for several years, it's the first link given in the NEWBIES thread (which does advise to always complain to the landowner first, without missing the appeal window).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
