Hi,

Could someone please point me in the direction of an appropriate thread / link for my situation.

I would like to claim PPI on a goldfish card I took out in c. 1998, which I believe was mis sold to me over the phone. I continue to have this credit card although it changed hands numerous times (I think is now owned by Barclays)
Being a hoarder I have all the paperwork in terms of statements from 1998 to 2017 etc. although I am not aware of having an initial 'contract' or documents relating to opening the credit card initially. As I said, it was arranged over the phone. (having said this, I do have numerous terms and conditions information as it has changed and been posted out over the years.)

Where do I start? Who do I write to? Do I already have all the information I need or is there something else required to start the claims process?

Many thanks in advance,

D

You have all you need, put a mis sell claim into the current card holder.
Have your reasons for mis sell ready.

You'll need to put the complaint into Barclaycard. Be prepared to send copies of evidence you have to support a complaint such as details of work benefits from the time. The fact it was sold over the phone may affect the complaint as you would have been given details of how to cancel and had the opportunity to do so at the time, the fact you are complaining 18-19 years later does weaken your complaint

The statements may be useful as you can see on each one how much PPI you paid (though if the card is still active they will most likely have these) - it will be listed as a separate charge on every statement where you had a balance (i.e. didn't pay off in full each month)

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
