O/S Daily Thursday 23 March 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, but wet underfoot, dark dreich and dreary.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was chicken in country french sauce and veg rice, I had an extra portion of veg, all eaten and enjoyed. Not sure what we will be having tonight as the planning has gone out the window, especially this week with the news we had on Tuesday - hopefully things will start to settle down.

Work yesterday was steady and very busy at times, but the afternoon wasn't as relentless as other weeks. Now on days' off, although I'm working Saturday morning as is DH. I'll be tackling the continuous "to do" list today, and getting as much done as possible, I'll be visiting the building society and bank this morning, and also organising the mothers day cards and gifts. Also writing a menu plan and shopping list. The housework will be tackled also.

Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks. Wow, it's not raining, snowing or hailing!! Flying visit off me as busy, busy day ahead. Two DGD's to feed, water and get ready for school. When back home it's straight back out again for the dash to the train station for the Leeds train for Mr. TA's Oncology appt at St James. (The usual worry) Just hoping we are not held up as we need to be back to take the 2 youngest DGDs to their swimming club. (DD has consultation evening for the eldest so can't take them) Back here for tea and another sleepover. Pan of Bolognese on the go already to warm back up when we finally get home around 7.00. I really am getting too old for all this. Thinking about it is wearing me out!

Have a good day folks and (HUGS) for the poorlies, sad or worried who want one. Take care. My thoughts are with all those caught up in the Westminster terrorist attack. xx

    Morning All

Hope all goes well today TA, what a busy day you have ahead.
Good news on the doggie front LW, what a pretty name.
Your move sounds a sensible idea MrsLW, hope you find somewhere you can make into another loving home.

Dry again today but such a cold wind, it was bitter yesterday. Hoping for some sunshine, it looks promising so far.

My thoughts are with the folk touched by the events in London.

Have a good day, take care. XX

Good morning, not raining but pretty soggy round these parts, and I will be girding my loins to head out shortly.

Saddened by yesterday's horrible news. There seems to have been an incident just where I catch the bus overnight and the road was closed off . I don't know what has happened, nor if the road is open now.

    Best wishes for today TA

    Good morning everyone.

It's cold, bright and dry today with more of the same forecast. Perhaps the garden will begin to dry out.

The event for 'friends' at the museum was, again, very flat and disappointing. At least I was back home in less than an hour and the fire was still going.

This morning I'm going into college early as I've booked a car valet, the company come up from Glasgow. Then two hours of 'death by PowerPoint' as the students deliver their latest task.

I need a little shopping as I've got a friend coming up from Nottingham for the weekend. It'll be lovely to see her again. I've booked a little sea trip for us on Saturday, fingers crossed for sunshine!

    Happy a Thursday to everyone.
  • Morning (((((((((( hugs )))))))))) if you need one.

Thoughts and prayers with everyone involved in yesterday's events in London. People just going about their daily lives, minding their own business attacked in such a barbaric way.

It's a dreich morning, not sure if it is raining, have not opened the curtains yet, OH is still snoring.

Going to order the wood for the raised beds this morning and then off to see the chair, more of that later.

We ended up having pate on toast and the last of some Christmas cake for supper last night. We really enjoyed our almost free treat yesterday.

    Morning all.

Appointment at the hospital today to have my boobs pummelled and squeezed. Not pleasant but I'm grateful of the opportunity.

Hubby is having blood tests so he's booked the day off work. We tend to do hospital visits as a couple anyway. Fingers crossed all will be well.

TA thinking of you and Mr TA too. Hope all goes well today at the hospital.

Thinking of those who lost their lives in Westminster yesterday. There's no place for extremism in today's society.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

There are two wet patches on my new ceiling. Master tru started to take up the laminate and floorboards in his room to search for a leak – luckily it was near the edge of the room. No-one touched this pipe during the work so I couldn't understand it. There was a connector which has been there for years, water was slowly dripping out of it. We drained the system and removed the connector, it had corroded. All fixed now. Why couldn't this have happened six weeks ago, before we put up new ceiling boards, had it skimmed then painted? We have to wait to for it to dry out, then paint a stain blocker on, then repaint. We've just laid new carpet and put most of the furniture back! Can't cope with moving it all again, I'm hoping you can just paint the affected area, I'm going to google in a mo.

I've almost caught up with my jobs, by tomorrow night I should be back on track. I still haven't cleaned all the cushions yet, I seriously underestimated how long they'd take to dry, lol. The carpets dried really quickly, I assumed the sofas would be the same. I suppose suction is lost along the long tube. Mum is popping round for coffee this morning, after lunch I want to clean the stair carpet. Then I'll sit and shuffle papers and do computer things :D

Tru - my decorator used masonry paint to cover the water stains on my ceiling then painted over with normal paint. The stain (which was dry) hasn't come through.
