HI All,

Got myself into a bit of a problem. I need a credit card in my hand by a week tomrrow. Credit worthiness isn't an issue. the problem is that I don't currently have a credit card and need one in order to pick up a hire car in France next Friday!

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Rob

If you can get to a branch of Metro Bank (in the south-east of England), they offer cards on the spot, as per https://www.metrobankonline.co.uk/borrowing/products/credit-card/:
    Instant in-store card printing

No waiting for the post – come to a store and leave with your Credit Card in your hand.

You say credit worthiness is not an issue but based on your statement that you do not currently hold a credit card indicates that it might well be.
You can always try though and if approved you MAY be lucky enough to get the card within a week. Good luck.

Will the car hire firm accept a Debit Card ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

To pay for their ridiculously priced CDW excess cover, yes.
  • From personal experience I know it can be done but it would obviously depend on your individual circumstances and the card issuer. I applied for a Barclaycard Platinum Card on a Saturday afternoon, received an immediate ‘holding’ email, another email informing me I’d been approved on the Monday afternoon, a letter the next day, the PIN details on Thursday and had the physical card in my hand on Friday morning. However, I’ve had an account with Barclays for many years, applied through my Barclays online account and noted from that that I had been ‘pre-approved’ for this card. I’ve also had a Barclaycard previously.

Thank you for this! I was at Metro bank just after 9 and walked out with a card in my wallet before 10.30.
