Don't allow the EA to bully you. They have only one interest - and that is their own! They want the sale to proceed asap, but you have to ensure you have done all the required due diligence to satisfy yourself that you won't incur unexpected costs further down the line.

I think you are doing the right thing by asking for advice on here so that you can speak more confidently with the EA and not let them take advantage of your inexperience.

It's highly unlikely that the loft will have to be fully emptied, unless the people are hoarders, or unless your chosen surveyor is really up himself.

There's usually a compromise position that can be negotiated.
