Hi chaps. We are on Virgin at the moment getting 50mbps download ... we are moving to Bexhill and from what I can gather there's only 'phone-line' available (ie no fibre etc) from EE with a speed of 17 mbps. Will I notice a dramatic difference or is there a faster alternative with another provider ?
Looking here:
https://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/NDBEX
it seems there is only Sky, TalkTalk and Vodafone available !
Many thanks for anyone who can offer me some advice.
Roger

You are mis-reading/misunderstanding the page - look under the BT Wholesale information heading, it shows fibre (VDSL) BB (FTTC/FTTP) ARE AVAILABLE on that exchange, meaning that you can use pretty much any fibreBB provider as they all have to use the BT infrastructure. Whether any individual property has access to fibre will depend on if there is a MSAN cab connected to it's PCP (green street cabinet where the line from your house terminates before heading off to the exchange)
The limited 3 providers you mention are for LLU broadband, i.e. those 3 have their own ADSL (i.e. normal non-fibre BB) equipment in the exchange, so are not relying fully on BT/Openreach to provide ADSL (up to 20Meg or so) broadband.
They are 2 different beasts, although with many similarities......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

Thank you so much GunJack, that really has helped .... now to make a choice, that looks like another nightmare ... my wife fancies 'Sky' ...0

first thing is to find out what is actually available at the specific address, assuming fibre is, then from there decide if you want/need higher/lower speeds....
try putting the address into this
https://www.dslchecker.bt.com
the site certificate gives an error, but continue and it will give a very rough idea of speeds for the types of services on offer......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
