  • Good morning chums,

Was a frosty one this morning but glad to see no snow causing problems.

As predicted, I didn't do too much last night after work and enjoyed an early night.

I've got football tonight which will ruin my NSD but no planned spends otherwise. Going to make tomorrow after work; empire biscuits (all from scratch; biscuits, jam and icing) and I'm going to make a basic vanilla sponge but use a recipe for making fondant icing by melting marshmallows. Watched a video online and it was made to look easy. I LOVE fondant icing.

Anyway, back to work. Happy hump day.

    Good morning chums ,

just back from a food shop only the second and last this month which is good and I am pleased at how the Love Food Hate Waste has been going, and actually have spent roughly just under what I normally have in my monthly budget so the Trussell trust will be getting a cheque next week to help them out.

I am happy that both them and I am benefitting as I get to see my cupboards getting slightly emptier and they get some much needed funds :):). several other folk have joined in on the forum and we all seem to be doing well.

Late afternoon I have to take DGS Henry to the orthodontist for his final check up which will please us both as its a bit of an out of the way place to get to.
I am now going to have a root round the bottom of my freezer to find the left over off cuts of pastry that I have over awhile wrapped in clingfilm and chucked in there for another day :) well today they are going to be used to make either mince pies or a mincemeat tart and will help use up some of the mincemeat in my cupboards

Weather is pretty nippy with a cold wind and the odd spot of rain but its supposed to brighten up later

Have a good day chums whatever you are doing

    Cheers

OH has now gained my nasty head cold, he is rarely ill and so feeling just a little sorry for himself. It means that we are unable to visit my DB in hospital, we were to have taken DM, but my Sis and BIL have stepped in. He is 60+ miles from home and gets a bit low on days when there are no visitors, too far for people to just drop in when in town say. Having said that he is in a centre of excellence and they have carried out a life saving operation:D

Going to do a freezer dive and find some tasty (hopefully) bits of fish and will concoct a fish pie for supper, also make a batch of GF cheese scones (my weakness - not so keen on sweet stuff). Cold and wet, but quite bright and have lit some candles to give myself a boost:)

Afternoon - back from teaching. Three absent, one unusually, so a quiet foursome who got on with their work for tomorrow. On the way home I posted a letter at the delivery office, got in the car and drove off. 100 yards later I remembered that I hadn't put a stamp on the envelope (second time since January) so drove back. The bloke there opened the post box so I could put the stamp on. I must have a mental block about stamps!!

The sun is shining it's heart out against the cold wind. The heavy frost has melted and the fields are back to being puddles. I put a white wash on before I left this morning so I've put it all on the airer and switched on the dehumidifier.

I'm taking a patient to the local doctor for 2p.m. so really just hanging about till then. I'll vacuum out the woodburner I think. Tonight it's a members evening at the local museum and I'm hoping for a better one than last time.

I've got the front door wide open and a fly has just flown in, hate fly season!

LW - sounds as if moving to be nearer the girls would be a good move. It's just about finding the perfect / almost perfect house. Good luck in it.

Am hoping to source a new boarding kennel for my girls today, they have been going to the same place for years but last time they went I was quite shocked at how run down it had become and am no longer convinced they get such a high standard of care. Have found a new place online but want to visit first and check it out, if only LW lived nearer and they could go to her :)
They would, of course, be made very welcome.:o I hope you're able to find somewhere good for them to go.
I've just secured a booking for 3rd to 8th April, an absolutely gorgeous 4 y.o. Staffie. She usually goes on holiday with her Mum, but it's not a holiday that's suitable for Bluebell this time, so she's coming to me. :o

PAH! Pah! I say!! Went to mow the lawn for the first time this year yesterday afternoon, and the lawnmower has turned up it's toes. :(
Cost as much to fix it as to get a new one; cue visit to Argoose (I had a £5 voucher which helped towards the cost, too); took us the rest of the afternoon to assemble the thing (instructions not too brilliant - think flat pack furniture - and it was tough going on the paws also). So I thought we'd get the mowing done today - no such luck; pouring with rain. I swear the grass is sniggering at us as it grows ever longer!
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Afternoon ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

We had a busy morning. Into town via tesco, filled up with fuel, we are off on a little jolly this weekend. OH went for a haircut, I went into the the bank to pay in the contents of the penny tin, all £16+ of it. Argos to collect the shoe boxes they owed me. I fell off the perch as far as plants go. Yorkshire trading has plants for £1, 5 found their way into my bag. I have had an idea to stop the b*****d slugs eating my delphiniums, I am going to grow them on into a largish pot and sink the pot in to the ground, then when the plants die back, I will take the pots out, pot them on and then do the same next year. I love delphiniums, but so to the slugs.

We took the Carrera marble lamp in to get a new fitting, £12......I am so pleased, I really love that lamp, it weighs a ton, but it is so elegant with its cream shade. We then went into Morrison, and Lidl. Enough shopping done to last 10 days.

Some time ago OH used to do surveys for a £10 gift voucher, we used to get them for Tesco and I used them on fuel, but recently they swapped to doing Sainsbury vouchers. I had a £10 card plus £1.33 on another card, so we treated ourselves to fish and chips at Sainsbobs. Cooked to order it was delicious........a couple of cups of tea to wash it down.....

OH is now snoozing, I will be in his relaxer chair shortly doing the same...... pate on toast for supper tonight.

It was fine when we went out, but hissing down now, the washing I did is in the dryer or on the rads, cannot do with wet washing hanging around.

    Hello all
Just got back from Dad's, had to change his bed and put on the new electric blanket that he bought yesterday from W*lk0s in their sale, for the princely price of £1.00 ! How come I never get a bargain like that :( . Did a clean around most of the house but will have to do the hall and stairs another time.Dad enjoyed his fish pie and there's enough leftover for two more meals for him, which are both freezer bound.
Have a wash in the machine now but will have to dry indoors, although the sun is out it's still only 9 degrees ( so no sunbathing today :rotfl:)
Will cook something for DH then I'm off for a long soak in a bubble bath.
OMG just watching the news re the incident in Westminster !
Nmlc hugs for your sad news.
    Stay safe everyone.

Didn't manage to post this morning, got to work at 6:30 and there was lots of work waiting already, I managed to get it all done before I came home. I've put air in my tyres and need to get fuel tomorrow, then Friday is another trip to the boat.
DD1 has messaged me, she has to have surgery, she has a 2finger gap running from her belly button to her sternum, she's been to the Dr's a few times and he just kept telling her she had to accept losing her figure after having twins! Another Dr has said it is a hernia and need surgery, it's taken 3 years for this to be diagnosed!
Chicken Kiev and wedges for tea tonight, after that we are on to the weird and wonderful combinations in an effort to empty the freezer.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
