Mid terrace - no apparent legal right of access?!

I have only spoken to one neighbour in brief who has lived there over 30 years and never even knew there was any issue with access. Everyone just kind of 'gets on with it' I guess on a day to day basis, as in there minds there is no issue. They drive up and down the unadopted road which appears well maintained, and the rear access is apparently only used occasionally. Mine doesn't go through to anywhere, immediately next door have a large brick wall so my house has a dead end if you like.
I appreciate the comments about value - I settled on this location as it's quiet, there is off street parking for 2 cars (nothing comparable terraced wise has this) and quirky and characterful in the sense of it has high ceilings, beams, nice features etc. All the others I have viewed similar have been on front of various busyish streets with no designated parking, and devoid of any history. Though I appreciate this is something personal to me in what I want from a house! Thanks all again for the replies, food for thought, head over heart. Not sure whether to reduce the offer I have made as a result.0 -
Do you mind telling me how long this took to sort out (or if it could be?) This is a problem further up the chain that is holding our house purchase up so just wanted to get an idea of how long we should expect to be delayed.0
