    You're a wag Stumpy :D

Maybe I should've said I like curry but curry doesn't like me anymore.
I did used to eat it but then it started giving me tummy ache every time I ate it so I don't eat it anymore :(
I only said it anyway to try and end the "to and fro" between you and Amethyst Ice.
Also I'm not taking sides but I only feed the hamster food that I buy from pet shops - I'm not as well informed as either of you so I just buy and feed it what I know won't kill it :D

Our gerbils lived in the kitchen, and they had a normal lifespan. I think they liked the activity, you could see them watching what was going on sometimes.
  • Thanks for your help everyone.

Update... After popping into PaH today just to see what their cages were like and how big a one I could afford, I completely fell in love with a 12 week old boy from their adoption centre. Told my boyfriend and he's decided that it's not the best idea and we should wait for a bit. :(:(:(

Ah well... just wish I hadn't seen him now as I feel so sad thinking about him stuck there!

i wouldn't buy anything from PaH, everything is over priced and IMO they don't really give a crap about the animals in their care - just profit.

i bought a gorgeous rat from them and they ticked the care sheet to say they had performed health checks, but they clearly didn't as i pointed out - he had a runny nose, was sniffly and sneezing and had to be sent to the vets before i took him home.
The more one gets to know of men, the more one values dogs.
  • I wouldn't have been paying for him anyway as he was in the adoption centre! I only went in to get an idea of prices for cages as I'm only used to rat ones as that's all I've really had in the past.

Now, having never had a pet in my life (apart from the odd goldfish), I was wondering if any of you guys can help me.

My flatmate (currently living in uni halls), has bought herself a hamster which currently resides in her room. This contravenes university policy, and unfortunately we will all get in a hell of a lot of trouble if she doesn't get rid of it. I don't want to go and grass her up to the security staff, I just feel bad for the poor hamster! Is there anything I could persuade her with to get the hamster out of the flat? Do they need exercise and fresh air or anything like that? It is in a poxy little cage, with not much in the way of entertainment for it, just a water bottle and little bowl for food.

I don't want her to just release the hamster into the forest at the back of our halls or anything, and I realise its a bit too much of a burden on animal sanctuaries etc, but what could we persuade her to do?

Sorry if this sounds ridiculous, just looking for a bit of advice really, hope somebody can help!!

Place an advert on your local Gumtree website, in the local shop/ pet shop. There will be a family who will take it off their hands to a good home I'm sure.

Hamsters do walk for miles in the wild so ideally it ought to be allowed out to run around at least once a day. I had a hammy in halls but not in a shared area!
