Presumably you are paying on receipt of bill, which is a very expensive way to buy nowadays.

If you ask the supplier to check your meter, they have to arrange this, although they may ask you to pay initially. You should get this back if the meter is proven, after testing, to be faulty.

Why a complaint stops the supplier arranging a test of a meter I dod not understand.

Is the complaint you raised about the supplier failing to test a suspected faulty meter? If not, then raise one for that too.

The supplier has 8 weeks to resolve any complaint, after which time you can ask the ombudsman service to assist you.

If the meter is proven to be faulty, then the supplier should re-bill you. They will re-bill based on estimated readings, which in the rare occassions it does happen, others have found such estimations are probably in the customers favour.

Hence why most suppliers will arrange a test of a suspected faulty meter asap, especially where the customer is paying for such test up front as well.
