Today I am receiving a message telling me my download has failed, disk full. Checking if that is the case I find that my hd is not even half full. Any suggestions please?

What drives do you have? C:,
etc and which drive are you downloading too?
If you type (in Cortana/search OR "Run") diskmgmt.msc you'll see exactly what you've got.0 -
By default, it always downloads to c:. It is showing, as d:, asr ram.Not sure what that is. Says it is 128 mb and full.0

Are you using Chrome as your browser ?0

Chrome it is. Let`s try another one.0

Sometimes it is convenient to set aside some of your memory as a "ramdisk" for temporary files and things, which is much faster than using a real disk. But all contents are lost when you turn off the power.
A more accurate error message would be "filesystem full", since you can also have multiple filesystems (partitions) on a disk, and that would also cover a ram filesystem.0 -

Change download locations
You can choose a location on your computer where downloads should be saved by default or pick a specific destination for each download.- On your computer, open Chrome.
- At the top right, click More
Settings.
- At the bottom, click Show advanced settings.
- Under the "Downloads" section, adjust your download settings:
- To change the default download location, click Change and select where you'd like your files to be saved.
- If you'd rather choose a specific location for each download, check the box next to "Ask where to save each file before downloading."

Also useful to check on what is taking up the disk space! Download, install and run something like TreeSize Free.0

Does not compute!
If you are blaming Chrome, then why did Firefox do exactly the same? There is obviously more to this that you are telling us!0
