  • Yes that sounds like it could be the case.

Our broker informed me of the valuation yesterday, but only after I'd asked for an update.
  • Sorry that answer was rather vague lol.

The valuation fee was taken from my account on the 8th March.
The underwriters asked for another wage slip and corresponding statement on 15th.
They called my employer on the 17th and instructed valuation on either the 20th or 21st.
    Hope this helps.
  • SteveA, I totally get why you are anxious - I know it is agonising!
We are not with Halifax but full app went in last week and just waiting for the valuation to be done now. Trust me, all of these exact same questions have been going through my head for the past 7 days...we just want to know if the affordability side of things has been satisfied etc etc.!
But our applications are in progress now and no amount of googling about mortgages will change anything. We must just sit back and wait. :)

There is literally nothing we can do to change the outcome now so whatever will be will be. Good luck to you :)
  • Thanks very much for the kind words. It's nice to know it's not just us suffering lol.

It makes it worse when you get this far down the line. To be knocked back at this stage would be really hard to take.

I'm hoping we all get the answer we deserve.

Well hit a roadblock already...our mortgage broker said they will only lend to us at 15%...this is with paying the credit card back as well...

Heres the stats : 227000 house
    23000 deposit
11000 on a loan for the car
4000 0% credit card , we dont use it just paying off an old overdraft basically (my partner , im too scared to even look at a credit card since 2011)
    647.00 & 487 default 2011 both satisfied
My grandma gifted us 15000 and weve saved in htb isa for the rest...

Bit hard to stay positive right now...

I said to my MB about adverse as we hd a quote from an adverse specialist who said he could do it at 10% but he said that they tighten up their affordability so will lend us even less ....
  • Gutted for you. We had the same thing happen to us. Halifax want a 10pc deposit with HTB instead of the usual 5pc.

I'm sure your broker will get something sorted for you.

Just a quick update , Hes managed to get us a DIP at just over 10% - so going through with the full application tomorrow...

aparently a DIP isnt worth much with halifax but my broker seems think its ok and that the underwriters will now just look through our payslips etc..

i said to him so they have seen all my defaults etc and he said yes it would have been picked up...will kepp everyone posted
  • Good news then good luck
