Cancel warranty in 30 days after claim rejected

Sorry if this is answered elsewhere, but I haven't been able to find an answer. My wife took out a policy with Autoprotect for her car and had a breakdown in the first month. Autoprotect rejected her claim and so she wanted to cancel as it was within the first 30 days. They are telling her that she cannot cancel as she had made a claim - even though they rejected it. Does anybody know if this is correct? She feels the policy is pretty worthless if they are not going to cover her breakdown.

    What did she claim for that was rejected?
    Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
    Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

    The turbo unit failed and the warranty company said it was 'wear and tear' and not covered. The claim was therefore rejected. If such a fundamental item is not covered it seems a bit poor.

    From memory, turbo units are often excluded from 3rd party warranties.

    Your point now though is ... if the item is not covered, then how can a claim have been made? Therefore the cooling off period should still be valid.

    Question - where does the 30 days cooling off period come from? Is it part of the warranty T&Cs? Or are you referring to statutory cooling off period? (Which I thought was 14 days). If the warranty T&Cs then they may well have an exclusion from the extended cooling off period if any claim is made, whether the item was covered or not.

    Almost everything is rejected by these warranties, they have the wear a tear letter on hand every time a claim is made.
