What would you recommend for someone who wants a tablet which has or can do the following,

-Microsoft Office
-Good resolution - Watch cctv on it
-Need for meetings
-Need a lot of memory - load of photos

They were told Dell was good and although they did not give the model numbers here are the descriptions they gave,

"15.5 inches Dell inspiron 15.5 2 in 1 windows 10 16g memory 512gp solid state drive touch screen £879"

"Dell inspiron 17 inch 2 in 1 I5 processor 12g memory 1TB hard drive £849"

I would probably recommend a laptop not a tablet, especially with meetings, projectors, office and probably many large documents

My opinion is that for most cases on a laptop, touch screen is over rated, and keyboard ad touchpad are both faster and more accurate. This one seems that the keyboard might be damaged in pad mode as it becomes the base of the unit..

Which model are you referring to because the link loads the Dell website rather than one specific model?

Can I assume you after touchscreen laptop, not 2 in 1 tablet?
Those dell you mentioned are 15" laptop or 17" laptop.

Do you have requirement in weight?

2 in 1 tablet usually refers to those with detachable keyboard.

The person wants a touch screen which is a 2 in 1 tablet.

They would prefer 17" due to sight issues.

They didn't mention weight but I would imagine the lighter the better.

but the two links you gave are for 2 in 1 laptops, not for tablets - are they wanting a tablet or a laptop?

(sorry, not links - but the computers you specified - the inspiron is a dell laptop)

I doubt a normal tablet will suit her purpose. Their version of 'loads of photos' could be different to my version. Very few 17" tablets. Fewer will support a decent version of office. The lists of want's start to exceed what a tablet can give. Plus someone who knows her recommended a specific type. What is left is really a laptop, and this is a 2 in 1 Dell with a bigish hdd and 17 screen https://www.cnet.com/products/dell-inspiron-17-7779-2-in-1-17-3-core-i7-7500u-16-gb-ram-1-tb-hdd-english/specs/, but other models may suit her better.

This behemoth is over 6lbs, but a 17" glass screen capable of taking some prodding will add some weight.

A visiting colleague has been doing virtually all you ask on an HP Spectre X2 (think its the 8/256Gb memory/SSD configuration) tablet when in our office recently. Its quite impressive watching him juggle with its various input options - Touchscreen, keyboard, remote keyboard, pen and mouse. At his desk, he usually uses it in a twin-screen configuration with a second monitor, Outlook/Word/Excel on the tablet and Powerpoint/Skype for Business etc on the monitor - Then he takes the tablet alone to meetings.

As someone virtually walled-off behind a Mac, PC and various peripherals on the same desk, I am mightily impressed with his desk-minimalism approach! :D

I also had the opportunity to have a play with one of these tablets in a seminar situation and I must say it performed nicely with large images and high-def video, although I didn't get to give it a try with Photoshop or a heavy duty editing application.

    Thanks!

I wasn't online since and shouldn't be at the moment either but hopefully I will get to read your response in the coming days.

I need to get back to the person asap.
