Will preexisting mold effect me getting contents insurance

Hello all. I'm thinking of getting contents insurance, but the place we currently rent has mold upstairs, will this stop us getting a quote? Most of the sites I've checked ask if the house is in a good state of repair, do I have to answer no because of the mold? I'd never claim due to mold damage anyway, but obviously I don't want to take out the insurance and any claims we make be invalid because of the mold.

Any advice much appreciated

Since mould or damp are NOT covered by Insurance it is not relevant.

If the house is in a poor state of repair, then if anything were to happen, then Insurers could use that to decline claims. For example if you had a hole in the roof, causing water damage to your Contents, you would not be covered. If you had windows falling apart, so easy for burglars to break in, again your Insurers are likely to decline any claim.

Mould is a sign of poor ventilation and is a health hazzard if not resolved. Get advice about it.
