Hi all,
My son within the last week has been awarded standard rates of PIP (Both rates) and Severe Disability Premium. He also claims income bases ESA and is in the support group.
Will he now be eligible for the 1 bed rate instead of the shared?
I called up the council this morning and informed them of the PIP award and was told he gets the maximum amount already (Shared) and won't get any more?

Is he in a 1 bedroom self contained property? Or is he in shared property? These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0

Should get the 1 bedroom rate.
If he needs an overnight carer then he will get the 2 bedroom rate.
They have made the wrong decision - ask for reconsideration quoting the regulations.

All sorted now, thanks! CAB and Shelter literally had no idea. Pretty poor to be honest.
