Lost car key

Hi All,

Looking for a bit of advice, I am looking into getting my car key replaced but some people have said to look into my car insurance as it is sometimes covered within the policy, I had a look through my admiral policy but can't seem to find it anywhere.

If I email admiral will it count against my insurance?

Reason I ask as i've heard in the past if you call your home insurance they log it against you so didn't want to email them or phone in case this was the same.

Anybody able to shed some light ?

Well find out how much a new key would cost.

Contact them and ask if they offer a lost key service.

I have contacted Peugeot to see, I will also check with other independent companies that do it to see also.

I just wanted to see If I contact my insurer will it go against me, before going ahead with anyone else

You can find out if your insurer or if your policy covers lost keys by phoning up and asking the question, no need to say you have a lost key.

From memory when I had to have a new key done it was about £100 maybe £130.

Yes it probably will be recorded as a claim so don't phone unless you are covered and are going to claim.

More importantly, has the key been lost and is your car at greater risk of theft?
