Bank asking for job status?

Hi,
I have just been to the bank to transfer some money to someone, I was asked if I was employed and I said "yes"
But I'm currently unemployed and receiving universal credit, I said I was employed to avoid them taking my overdraft away.
My question is will I get in trouble with DWP? Can they see I said I was employed? Or is it just a customer service thing, thank you

Your paranoia is unfounded. 'They' (banks & DWP) don't have that sort of access to each other's systems. Big brother is not here yet.The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

Well... Big Brother is here in a limited format. The "Connect" software used by HMRC seeks disparities in income. I doubt it would pick up on the issue identified in this question. It is usually things like the amount of interest paid would indicate someone in receipt of a means-tested benefit raises the question of whether they have capital in excess of the prescribed limit. PAYE data would be a further flag for an investigation.0
