Interest on Mortgage before completion

Hi, I recently bought a new property. Unsurprisingly the process wasn't as smooth as I hoped.
There was a delay between our initial completion date & when we actually completed, therefore, I have been charged interest on the mortgage funds that were sat in my Solicitor's account before being resent back to the lender (Santander).
I have been charded 8% over 4 days.
My question is am I actually liable for that bill?
Thank you

Yes.
Of course, if you believe someone else is responsible for the delay, you can ask them to stump up, etc.0 -
Who was responsible for the delay in completing?0
