Get a trade paint - dulux or johnstones - in eggshell or satinwood. Make sure to lightly sand the skirting first to provide a key, and clean before painting. hth

Or gloss. I've just gone back to gloss after years of satinwood. I've seen the light.

Don't forget undercoat first before the top coat of gloss or satinwood.

I've started using Zinnser perma white, very easy to use and great results.

    Don't use 'Trade' paint.
Dulux Non Drip Gloss is the best for 'amateurs'.

Went with Dulux Trade quick dry gloss in pure brilliant white and I am very happy with the results. Just the walls to do tomorrow and I'm done.

    What's the problem with Satinwood?

I have not had an issue with it. My skirting was painted in Satinwood over 5 years ago and still looks good.

I don't like the look of it, I prefer gloss. I also like Artex & carpets. As you may be able to tell I don't follow fashion.
