Nest Thermostat Wireless Issues

my Nest thermostat for some reason has decided not to connect to my WiFi from the location its always worked fine up until today.

I have tried moving it closer to the Heat Link which is in a different room and it connected straight away.

Also I haven't added new devices or anything similar which could had effected the widi connection it just decided not to connect for some odd reason.

Any ideas to what has caused the wifi connection issue to my Nest stat?

Is it not connecting to YOUR normal wifi or is it losing connection to the heatlink?

The nest support pages are quite comprehensive, your answer maybe there.

If its your wifi its not connecting too, as per the other poster, interference could be the cause from a neighbour - there are some apps on Android Play store that you can install (assuming you have access to a Android phone) that give you all the Wifi networks in the area and what channel they are on. If any are a strong signal and are on the same channel as yours, it could cause issues - log into your router and change the channel to another, less busy channel.

The thermostat connects to the heatlink via 'nest weave' their own wireless network and if you had an old thermostat, could be connected via wires too. I think that the nest support pages will be best to help on the latter.

it seems to be that the Nest thermostat can't connect to the Heat Link where it's been for the past 2 years since today but when I moved it closer to the Heat Link it connected fine so could it be issues with the wifi as well as the Heat Link?

There is a menu in the nest that tells you your wifi connected status (settings / network) check that out - is that connected at all times?

Settings / equipment / heatlink tells you when your connected to the heatlink

I guess that some interference could cause the issue but would be hard to trace what it was as I assume that nest weave is a proprietary frequency not the common ones used for normal wi-fi.

Don't know if this might effect it but im changing broadband providers from BT to Sky and my switch over date is next week, could that be it?

No that wont be it - its not the wifi from the thermostat to the router, its from the thermostat to the heatlink which is via Nest Weave - their own wireless system. It could be that something is interfering (possibly something from an adjacent property thats new). Or it could just mean that something has its knickers in a twist and needs a reset - look at Nests online help, there will be some trouble shooting there.

I've been on the Nest troubleshooting and tried resetting and factory reset the Heatlink and resetting the thermostat but still having issues.

There are no houses or any other type of property around my house that could cause any type of interference as I live in a detached house and I find it strange that it worked this morning and stopped all of a sudden.

After having the same symptoms as you and 2 hrs+ wasted with nest customer support I decided to take matters into my own hands!
My boiler is a grant oil boiler and I installed the nest myself it worked wirelessly with the heatlink for 1 year then just failed to maintain a connection.
Remedy was to temporarily wire the nest thermostat from the heat link directly to the nest thermostat (it's now hard wired) this is not supposed to make any difference according to nest customer support but has not missed a beat with the heatlink since!
I even had 2 core wire flex trailing from my hallway to the utility room temporarily for 2 days before we hid the wiring through coving etc so it was invisible afterwards.
If the wireless signal between the nest and heatlink are not affected by this it would suggest that the USB power supply from the nest plug is inadequately powered to provide a strong enough signal from the nest, but the hard wire function from the heatlink is better powered over 12vdc.
