    Not necessarily. You say you've been given a new tax code. If your employer has the chance to apply your new tax code before the end of the tax year (on April 5th) you'll get it in your pay packet, as the new tax code will result in less tax being deducted.

    If your pay between now and the end of the tax year isn't enough for the full allowance to be refunded or the tax code isn;t applied in time, I believe HMRC will pick this up when they reconcile the records at the end of the tax year and you would then get a cheque.

    No. The party who does not use all the personal allowance can transfer 10% to the other party as long as they do not pay tax at higher rate.

    Note the transfer can only be between a married couple or those in a civl partnership. Just living together doesn't count
