Hi,
I've had a look and both Wonderbill and Onedox seem to be quite useful. I'm inclined towards the latter since it already integrates with Starling.
As for screen scrapping - it will be banned next year when the new RTS come into play which will also enforce the SCAs for PSD2 and Open Banking.
*edit: I've created accounts with both and checked them out. Not impressed. I'm better off using Emma or Yolt which currently provide me with a better overview of my bills and invoices.
Neither provide Vodafone integration - which is Vodafone's fault apparently, but still. And neither was able to connect to my Sky account - which both supposedly should be able to do.0 -
Never tried wonderbill but I use Onedox which is pretty much straightforward. I went with Onedox after seeing reviews that said its app is easier to use. Where it (might) fall down in managing providers is that it offers to compare energy but apparently not broadband/telephone and mobile or at least it hasn't offered those comparisons yet. Overall, the most useful aspect is my online bills in one place as well as my tv license which in itself is a time saver.0

Where both of them fall down is that they cannot cope with logins which require more than just a username and password. For example for my EDF account Onedox states, "No information yet" because it cannot get the information because EDF account login requires an email address first followed by Captcha pictures and then the password. In turn, Onedox's automatic switching for energy falls down. The same problem appliesd to Wonderbill when I tested it.0 -
It's true that all of them have issues with authentication. If there are any suppliers with 2 factor auth (e.g. Vodafone), it won't work. Onedox's automatic switching is not really switching, as it only switches to cheaper deals FROM THE SAME SUPPLIER you are already with. E.g. if you are with EDF, it will find you a cheaper deal with EDF.
I dont see any problem with handing over an account number and a renewal date. I DO SEE a problem with handing over usernames and passwords so they can keep your session open while scraping your accounts. It's quite interesting to see that it will be banned eventually.
I tried Yolt the other day, but it requires me to do an awful lot of work to set up my account. It categorised my Vodafone bill as 'eating out'. The categorisation of transactions is immensely difficult as 90% of retailers dont use it properly. For example, if I buy petrol in Sainsburys, it will show as grocery and not petrol. It needs manual input mostly.
In the interests of full disclosure, I manage BillsDashboard.com, which is a service for managing household bills via a single dashboard. We do not ask for login credentials, but when you select a provider, you're given the website login details - for that supplier - which open in a new window, so adding details is zero hassle - but also secure for our users as its fully encrypted and we dont ask for credentials.no signature0
