Do insurance companies pay any attention to such websites?

I ask because i googled my plate out of interest. I found some entries all with complete nonsense reported.

So then i register on the site to see if i can get any details of the person who submitted the report (as at this point i'm thinking it's a co-worker playing a prank).

Then when i register i see how many reports this user has posted. It's probably more than 100 on various cars. Really unnecessary things being said but this person is posting literally about 100 reports with similar nonsense remarks.

So i just got wondering if insurance companies pay attention to these kinds of things? I wouldn't want to be marked just because of some moron on the internet making up stories.

First off, does it give a location where these incidents are meant to have occurred and do those match with where you live/work?

I seem to recall hearing a similiar tale from someone else but the incidents allegedly happened in an entirely different part of the country they'd never visited. The conclusion was that these were fictitious reports put online by the website in question (no idea if it is the one you mention) to drive casual googlers like yourself to their website to increase page impressions and thus advertising income.

As to your question about insurance companies paying attention, well many do use data mining companies so it is possible it could get picked up on I suppose.

Sites like that might be valid if not for the fact that some people have their own made up version of the highway code stuck in their heads.

Some just get upset at being overtaken, some actually seem to believe that overtaking is dangerous and anti-social (Peugeot drivers for example).

Previously i've overtaken cars when driving my kitcar, it's like overtaking on a motorbike, all you need is a suitable gap, but you sometimes get people flashing/honking as though you nearly caused a head on crash, even though they're 1/4 mile down the road.

There are lot's of things which are perfectly legal and infact recommended by the highway code, which would incite rage in many drivers, like using both lanes and merging in turn.

Truth is so many things factor into peoples behaviour that taking a site like that seriously would be very flawed.

On the other hand, full on video evidence posted on Youtube, should I believe be used by insurers to gauge the drivers they insure.
BUT even then, what if someone sells a car or private plate? I have a video of someone being a moron, getting upset because I took a slip road while he was dithering about trying to decide whether to take it or not. The plate sold at auction some years later for £200'000 and now resides on a Lamborghini.

like using both lanes and merging in turn.

It baffles me why people get upset by this perfectly legal and sensible procedure. It doesn't seem to cause problems in other countries.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

Yes the locations given do tally with where i drive.

I believe myself to be a pretty observant driver & as such i don't believe anyone follows me from start to finish. People turn off. They may be with me for the first 1/4 journey, the first 1/2 but not from start to finish.
This person has entered 'offences' that have occurred at the start, middle and end of my journey. Nobody is with me for the full journey.

OP I don't know why your upset, the guy hasn't posted your reg????

Or does he call lots of people that particular insult?

I would say, given that it's too much of a coincidence, your nemesis could be:

The way they word things and the emotional context they use, i'd say female or highly strung male. Their daily route is quite obvious too (to Lytham Mill lane near to BAE from Lancaster or Morecambe), but times are all fake.
Seems to get around a lot, has a rear view mirror and therefore it's not a truck/van.
Sounds like they run a dashcam, a cheap one that can't pickup reg numbers after 9pm on dark roads.
The number of tailgating "up my a**e" claims might indicate a smallish car, as large cars don't get tailgated if they're doing the limit. Somewhat confirmed by "Typical of perverted saloon drivers" (in reference to a VW Bora).

    This made me laugh:
Vehicle details found: RX61CNO BLACK, 2011 FERRARI 458 ITALIA DCT S-A COUPE Driving around Cirencester repeatedly to catch attention making a noise and showing off.
This individual is absolutely pathetic..... They've gone for a weekend away with their disabled partner and all they can do is moan and complain.
Vehicle check not recognised by Experian so may be dodgy.
    Suggests link to motor trade.
Doesn't work at BAE, hates BAE employees, maybe works at Avis? (might explain the location/time anomalies).

All from just a few words you posted.......

Could they be driving a similar route to you?

Scary thing the internet...... Hell I scare myself sometimes.
