Car insurance gone up £400 because of additional child?

Hey
Just had the strangest thing happen, over the last 5 years or so our car insurance has been really stable at around £600, now it's just shot up to £1,000!
The only things that have changed since last year are we've got one more year of no claims and an additional child. I'm also looking to organise the insurance a few weeks earlier this year, but I've read that should make it cheaper.
What is going on? I've just run the same quote as last year through 2 comparison sites with that one change and... 66% increase is huge

Should make no difference unless the child has been added as a named driver.
Getting quotes a few weeks earlier should make no difference either. Insurers don't use a static rates set these days and it can change daily.
Insurance has increased in price considerably, but that increase does seem a bit sharp.
Try a decent local brokers ( not Swinton) as they can often beat online quotes. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -
Sounds like Swift cover.
I had this debate with them, ultimately they can and do rate on what they like.0
