  • In my opinion, you can't beat the quality you get from using original cartridges - and I say that based on having tried the guaranteed refills, and on refilling myself.

You get a lot of people who are totally satisfied with these (and with refilling themselves), but from experience the quality isn't as good. It comes down to what you class as acceptable.

On cartridges which have the built-in print head the head is bound to deteriorate with time and use, so a refill is going to degrade over time.

I also find that on recycled cartridges the printed colours are not as vibrant and sometimes they're not even waterfast, and smudge when you handle them with damp hands. They also fade quicker.

These are just with the ones I've used, you understand. All refillers claim their processes are great, and this one just says they've tested them. ISO9001 is meaningless as it is just a documentation exercise. It cannot guarantee cartridges which are effectively secondhand (and the refund policy implies that too).

If a refilled cartridge were to leak and mess up your printer it would probably also void your warranty. I had one which DID leak, but I managed to clean my printer out myself.

Since the guy offers a refund you can't really go too wrong. But just be aware that your prints may look different. It is odd that a cleaning cycle is recommended for a new cartridge. That will use up ink and suggests they aren't as good as originals and have a certain failure rate (hence the replacement offer).

You might want to email him and ask if he will refund if you aren't happy with the quality. He may just be referring to ones which are definitely faulty.

A slightly shorter answer is that remanufactured essentially means it has been refilled!

If you are worried about quality (like the first responder says) then these are probably not as good as band new originals, but if it is for just general printing that is not too important then they are usually fine.

thanks guys, i just use the printer every now and then.sometimes photos though!!
  • I always buy pro-jet carts, much much cheaper than the 'genuine' carts that my printer insists I use, hehehe. I find quality to be fine and I print a fair amount.

with all inkjets, its a good idea to print a test (usually called nozzle check), or just a colour pic at least once a week, especially when using non-genuine carts.as they tend to dry out quick!

tried to do a test today, kept saying couldnt find connection!! probally on its way out! nearly 5 years old now so..
  • Remanufactured should mean in the case of an inkjet cartridge that the following test and checks have been done on a used original printer manufactuers printer cartridge.
    1. Print head connections electricaly tested
    2. Print head on cartridge is cleaned
    3. Any sponges inside the cartridge are replaced
4 The ink used to refill the cartridge is of a comparable quality to the ink used by the cartridge manufacturer
5 The ink is injected into the new sponges in such a way as to gain even saturation of the sponge inside, so the ink flows through the print head evenly and does not leave patches with no print on them.
    6. The cartridge is fully print tested before packaging.

The above is a short list of the essential processes involved in remanufacturing inkjet cartridges.

Unfortunately there are people around who just squirt some more ink into a cartridge and call it remanufactured.

Ok if you have not guessed, I make my living through selling remanufactured and compatible ink and laser cartridges.
However in answer the original question we guarantee every cartridge we sell with a 100% money back Guarantee, because they have all been put through the above processes.

So if you wish to make big savings in the cost of your printer cartridges backed with a NO QUIBBLE MONEY BACK GUARANTEE. Have a look at our company web site www.abcartridges.co.uk . Or if you are having printer problems have a look at our web site blog it is full of special offers and usefull advice on printer problems.
