Turning printer on

My printer is upstairs and on a TP-link smart plug controlled by Kasa app.

When I turn the smart plug on the printer only has power to it but is not actually switched on ready to print.

Is there a way to have the printer turn fully on so I can print from downstairs without having to go upstairs first?

The printer might have a standby function that you could use, so it's not completely turning off/on via the rocker switch debitcardmayhem correctly mentioned...may be!
