I have a simple web based forum (motorcycle related) held on a free hosting site (proboards)
I bought a simple domain from fasthosts , nice and simple call it bikebike.co.uk
domain fowarding enabled and it works , redirects ok , HOWEVER in facebook the link shows highlighted , www.bikebike.co.uk , the UK is not highlighted ??
I have tried an alternate address to test https://www.lep.co.uk in facebook and that works correctly
is there a prob with the redirected site , as google finds it ok

When you say in facebook, do you mean when you post the link in a normal post it appears like that ?
If that's not what you mean , could you explain a little more what your trying to do ?
Does the link work if you post it here ? are you preceding it with http:// ??0 -
andy , I use a page/forum/group on facebook a closed one that you have to be admitted to , this site is regarding a brand of motorcycles , as you know postings dissapear down the page and a week later another person asks the same tech question , and the roundabout goes around
I set up a forum , nothing to hide , http://sinnis.proboards.com/ BUT a lot of browsers say its not safe??? , I bought a domain called https://www.sinnishmc.co.uk (two bike makers) and have been to control panel and redirected it , all works in google (try both) BUT facebook will only highlight https://www.sinnishmc.co and misses the important .uk off of you link to it , the proboard works ok , i,ve been peeing about redirecting to other .co.uk websites so google cache might !!!! up ............
if I redirect to my local newspaper and then post a link in facebook , it shows the full link?Save a Rachael

What happens if you redirect to another forum on proboards.com?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Care to tell us how? It's a bit rude to ask a question, have people try to help you, then sort it out but not explain what the resolution was.0 -
This is what happens when silly browsers put warnings on sites just because they are not HTTPS.
Buying a domain would not change that unless he was hosting the forum on his domain and then buying a security certificate.
Redirecting might be seen in itself as insecure.
I suspect noticed he could turn off warning for non HTTPS.Please be nice to all MoneySavers. That’s the forum motto. Remember, the prime aim is to help provide info and resources. If you don’t like someone, their situation, their question or feel they’re intruding on ‘your board’ then please bite the bullet and think of the bigger issue.:)0 -
