I sold a new Handbag on eBay to a seller in Belfast. He contacted me to say he hadn't yet received it. I'd sent it recorded delivery so checked nad it was showing as being delivered yesterday.
Only problem is that is says it went from their Brighton office and was signed for by someone called Fortune not my buyer.
I've tried an online claim with Royal Mail but it says I have to wait 10 days.
Any advice please (other than waiting 10 days)
Thanks in advance

Did you put the correct postcode on? I'm not a postcode expert but I imagine they both start with B...
What postcode does your postal receipt say?0 -
Yes postcode was BT4 I've googled it and it is a Belfast postcode. Not sure what brightons is0

Brighton is BN. Does your receipt give the correct postcode, is there a similar street name in Brighton?
I'd say it is very unlikely you'll see the bag again. Refund your buyer and make a claim from RM when you're able to.0 -
Yes receipt has the Belfast postcode0

You need to refund the ebayer and claim costs back from royal mail0

Might be worth doin a search on 192 with the name fortune to see if there is anything broadly similar to their address0

Sometimes they do make mistakes. We are in the South West and received a Christmas card that should have gone to Huddersfield. Road name similar but not the same. Amused the person in the PO when taking it in to ask them to redeliver it.
If it was only delivered Friday, there's a chance the person who signed for it may have noticed it wasn't for them after signing and returned it to the postman. They probably don't have a way to delete the signature that was given to them before the recipient gets a look at the parcel (DPD didn't when they took my parcel to the wrong house), so it could now make its way to Belfast unrecorded. I would allow some time for this before refunding.0
