negativity from others

Don't let the negativity of some spoil your hobby. To paraphrase, opinions are like noses, everybody's got one. We all enter competitions for different reasons and I am sure we are not the sole beneficiaries of any wins.
I have a set of criteria before entering any competition :
- do I want the prize?
- can I actually attend (holidays/events etc)?
- would someone I know like the prize?
- is it a worthwhile saleable commodity?
- would a local charity benefit from it?
If it passes those and is not a gleam / fb or rc then I enter. If not I leave it to others.
We do this for fun not reward. I have not had a win since last June. Nada. Zip. Nothing. But I begrudge nobody theirs and enjoy reading the I won thread and seeing fellow compers' happiness.
Good luck to everybody is what I say.2016: Joseph Cheaney Shoes; Rival Sons album

I think a lot of people really do have the 'the world owes me something, I want something for nothing' mentality, ultimately every single person in a competition has the exact same chance of winning the prize and to most (if not all) non-compers don't realise the amount of competitions we enter a day/week/month nor the amount of time and effort it takes.
I started comping a month ago and I have won 4 times - however in that time I have entered about 5000 competitions. To a non-comper the win's do seem frequent and excessive but find the percentage of 4 wins to 5000 comps and they'd soon find out.
I'd just ignore the negativity, whether you win frequently or not, whether you only enter for yourself or not, it doesn't really matter, you've put in the time and effort and ultimately deserve your wins0 -
I've had people jealous and saying I should share prize weekend away etc with them, they all wanted to know how to enter so I showed them and they entered roughly 20 a day for a few days and then gave up because they didn't win. I don't think people realise the amount of time that goes into comping to get a prize big or small and that you never know what your going to win. I have one person who is very bitter about my wins saying I never pay for anything and I should enter some for him because I have more time than him 😡 I've now stopped telling people unless I want to share with them0
