Corgi certificate

Options
I had a new fireplace and fire fitted by a local company back in January, well pleased with the job.

However i was going through receipts a few weeks ago and realised i hadnt received a corgi certificate for the installation.

I phoned the company who took my details and said it should have been sent out by corgi and that they would get it sorted. 4 weeks later still nothing.

Now before i phone them again could someone enlighten me as to the correct process for an installation and issuing of a cert.

Also which course of redress do i have towards the company and what is a reasonable time to wait.

Much appreciated.

Installation work is notifiable to Corgi within 10 days of completion. Corgi then take 2-3 weeks to get the letter out to you.

Are you sure that the firm is properly registered?
  • You can always phone Corgi and ask them where your certificate is. They will then look to see if they have been notified of the work by your installer.

I waited 18 months for my installer to notify Corgi, (I kept phoning Corgi to see if they had been notified yet) once Corgi was notified I got my Certificate within a week.

check on the corgi website. it has a search facility, itll tell you if the company/corgiman really is genuine/registered.

    Part of the Furniture
    See http://www.trustcorgi.com/consumer/requestacertificate.htmx

"If you have not received your certificate within 30 days of the appliance being installed, or require a copy of a certificate please contact our Customer Services Team on 0800 915 0485."

If the company have done the paperwork like they say then Corgi should have a record of it by now.

  • Just an update on this thread.

The company use a subcontractor, they called him and he told them that he had registered my work as he always does.

Neither the subby or the company said they knew what to do in this circumstance and suggested i called corgi.

I eventually received his corgi number which is legitimate, i phoned corgi who said they hadnt received notification and that the fitter should have a confirmation number when jobs are registered either by phone or email.

I havent got back to company or fitter yet but i wonder what i can do and who the onus is on to sort this out?

The company you had the contract with. The online notification only costs £2.50 - it won't exactly take all of the profit out of the job even if it has to be done twice will it?
