Insurance renwal - and they have no record of my claim

I have just contacted my car insurance company as my policy is up for renewal in 2 weeks.
I questioned what my no claims was, as they advise 5 years and 6 in April.
Great I thought, but I made a claim through them in 2016 as my car was written off, no one else involved - skidded on black ice.
The lady said they had no record of it.
After 20 minutes on hold, they advised it was the underwritters fault for not advising them.
Bearing in mind when I made the claim I contacted them. And when I insured my new car with them they were fully aware that my previous vehicle was written off by them.
They have to contact the underwritters and get back to me.
My main concern are 1 was my last 12 months policy invalid?
2:- Where do i stand ref my renewal policy and that they advised i have nearly 6 years no claims.
Any advice would be greatly welcomed

Was it invalid, unlikely. Can they ask for more money? Yes. Should you complain because it was not your fault? Yes.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
