We managed another £1k overpayment this month :jwhich took us sub £160:j...the balance currently stands at £158k but will go up to £159k when March interest is added.
Offence/Income
1) It was Mrs SMFs turn to get a bonus this month, after tax £2.5k. (We must enjoy these bonuses as they may not be around next year:rolleyes:). The money needs to go into the new car fund so will probably put it into a cash ISA in April. I like the look of the Lloyds one at 6.5%.
2) Made £1,097 interest on ISAs last year.
3) Mr SMF finally flogged some of his share options and in between the highs and lows in the market got $20 per share:T...not exactly sure how much he has made but might be as much as £5k. Again, this has to go into the car fund:rolleyes:.
Defence/ Expenses.
Everything came in on budget.
1) Little SMF racked up a £43 pound bill on his mobile phone.:o He has a £10 a month deal with virgin which gives him 300 texts and 300 minutes. However, he's taken to calling his friends and run out of minutes and not noticed. He was really upset and felt like he'd let me down, bless, but I explained to him that mobile phone companies are like banks and are always out to make you pay if you slip up:rolleyes:. So if he learns a lesson about mobile phone companies, that lasts him for life, it will be worth £33:D
2) I bought no books again this month. I have now read all the Harry Potters (I did cry in the last one:p) and I also read Brick Lane which someone gave to me about 4 years ago.
3) I bought no clothes. Just 1 pair of jeans on my next gift card - so the balance on this is now £60.
So another good month for the SMFs. April through to September are harder months financially for us but hopefully the sun will come out soon and spring/ summer will arrive.:D

We managed a whopping £7k overpayment this month :jwhich took us to £151k:j- sub £150k here we come!
Offence/Income
Mr SMF2 actually made £9k on selling his companies shares. The money is needed to go into the new car fund so we put it into our cash ISA using up the allowance for 2008-2009. We managed to miss out on the Lloyds ISA at 6.5% but our current rate is 5.65% so not too bad. With the remaining left over money from bonuses we were able to overpay a massive £7k this month.
Defence/ Expenses.
Everything came in on budget. I bought no books again this month and no clothes. I have now being doing my spending diary in excel for 5 years.
So another good month for the SMFs.:D

1. The fall in interest rates is helping us alot. An extra £250 of our regular payment is now paying capital.
2. Mr SMF sold some more shares this month, not as many as in April though. We will hopefully be making a biggish overpayment in June.
Defence/ Expenses.
Everything came in on budget this month. Nothing unexpected.
I bought no clothes again this month. However, bought some books for my youngest and ended up spending £20 on books for myself from "The Book People".They are fantastic bargains though.
The car seems to be (touch wood) going fine at the mo.
The oil spike and the property falls gave me abit of a jolt this month TBH, but have made me more determined to get this monkey of our back. TBH I think property falling is a good thing (I don't want my kids to be at home forever), but I suppose like everyone I worry about its effects on the wider economy. We don't use much petrol either but it's always scary watching oil move upwards...
...so I've bought a second washing line and have only washed once this week instead of having my washing machine on everyday:eek: and I have put a thermos flask next to my kettle and have been putting the unused contents of the kettle into the thermos for my next cuppa! Works too. How very old style. My sisters would die of embarrassment if they knew what I was doing.
