Co op Visa debit card charged twice

Just doing some accounts and noticed about 6 months ago that i have numerous occasions where my visa debit was charged twice. All in about £500 overcharged!
The bank CO OP say that i can only dispute these charges within 120 Days which seems unfair. They suggest getting the refunds repaid directly from the retailers. It seems to me that this is a failing by Visa rather than the retailers as it was on about 5 separate occasions.
Any advice gratefully received.

Rules is rules, as they say! I think you'll have to do as advised and approach the retailers for a refund. If it was down to a system issue with the Co-op (it's unlikely to have anything to do with Visa as they aren't really involved in the processing of debit card transactions within the UK) I would have expected it to have received publicity and the duplicates automatically reversed.0

What kind of transactions were they?
For example if they were gambling transactions then your gambling account would also have been credited twice?0 -
I don't understand this method of accounting at all. I wake up in the morning, grab a cup of coffee and, within five minutes, I know exactly what transactions occurred yesterday in all three current accounts and my two credit cards. Apps with a five digit login make it very easy to do this.I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.0

Apps (and phones) that support fingerprint authentication are even easier.Shakin_Steve wrote: »Apps with a five digit login make it very easy to do this.0 -
I can get my passcode entered in about three seconds. I'm not going to upgrade my kit just to save one of them. Besides, I'm an old fogey and I don't like this new-fangled fingerprint stuff. As for facial recognition, I don't want to upset my iPad first thing in the morningTadleyBaggie wrote: »Apps (and phones) that support fingerprint authentication are even easier.

The only time limit I can see in their T&Cs is 13 months, not 120 days.
In any event, if there were several, all with different retailers, it can only be down to errors in the Co-op's or Visa's own processing system. You don't even know that the retailers got the funds twice, just that the Co-op deducted it twice.
You should escalate this to a complaint; and put it in writing.0 -
They're quoting you chargeback rules.
This is not a chargeback. Miss about unauthorised transactions.
Complain and escalate if needed.
And flog yourself senseless for your lax checking of your accounts.0 -
Duplicate transactions are uncommon these days.
The suggestion that there have been several on 'numerous occasions' from different retailers is very strange indeed, as is the OP's failure to notice them for several months.0 -

Maybe a slight bit of a failing by you too in not noticing it for 6 months?0
