Plugging it in during use is no problem - Anything over 2 years is a bonus! I have a work laptop which we can mostly use for personal use too but when i am working away my wife needs a machine. Was hoping not to have to buy one but hopefully this machine will suffice."What?! Are you on the right thread?"
Sounded good to me. Anyhow back to the OP question. I also would recommend the machine linked below. I bought an X200 Thinkpad from the same seller a couple of years ago and it has proved to be a bargain. The one below is £135.

Thanks to all for advice, I am going to check some of those suggestions out, both the suppliers and the models.
Am I right in thinking that the OP now has what they need? Please be nice to all MoneySavers. That’s the forum motto. Remember, the prime aim is to help provide info and resources. If you don’t like someone, their situation, their question or feel they’re intruding on ‘your board’ then please bite the bullet and think of the bigger issue.:)0 -

A recommendation for anyone buying these sorts of cheap devices/laptops.....
Please PLEASE do NOT leave these things plugged into the mains unattended!!!!
If Sony managed to make a high end laptop that could spontaneously burst into flames, that should tell you how much trust to place in very cheap Chinese made alternatives.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

It's been delivered and still unopened but I am going to return it - partly based on some of the wise words in this thread. I'll pay return postage and look at some of the much better suggestions here again. Feel a bit of numpty for messing the seller around....I should have slept on it before ordering.0

I got an acer laptop from John Lewis in the bargain area (new) for £100 was £160 with 2 yr guarantee and lots of computer help from the staff (about 16 so an IT whizz). It's been fine and is quite a large screen so good for watching films. May have been lucky but worth a look if near. They hide them on a bottom shelf somewhere with a red clearance sign.
Probably no help but you can get a laptop for a £100 (I had a £50 john lewis voucher so it was only £50)0 -
Not all business machines will have a webcam, so check before ordering if necessary.0

NiftyDigits, that is not a badpoint? Also I have not see a decent pic from one yet?
I had a thinkpad years ago, and it was a brilliant machine.0
