C4 recall NUH
Options
Anyone taken their Citroen in for this recall yet? Apparently the recall needs urgent attention as "BONNET MAY OPEN UNEXPECTEDLY". The recall notification says "It has been identified that the bonnet striker support may corrode. If this corrosion is not treated there is a possibility the bonnet striker support may fail which will allow the bonnet to open whilst the vehicle is in motion".
I had the recall letter today and called the garage to book in. They said they just need to place a few stickers underneath the bonnet!! ... A few stickers??? (They said they'll help with the corrosion!!). Cannot fit the car in for another 9 days .. in the meantime I'm driving on the motorway.
All sounds a bit surreal to me. Will follow up with a call to their head office in Coventry tomorrow. Any thoughts input anyone?

The problem is that the bonnet catch can corrode and seize if it's not been maintained properly - lubricated periodically, in other words.
If you're that worried about it, go and give it a squirt with spray grease and some exercise...0 -
Oh yes! ha, ha .... Same as any other car .... parts need lubricating! Nothing unusual in that then ... except of course for the small matter of the urgent safety recall notification!!0
