You merely show your ignorance, Scotland is a sovereign Nation, where the People are Sovereign not a Monarch not the Church, the people , this was very clearly set out in the Declaration of Arbroath in 1320,......and It was the basis for America's Declaration of Independence
You obviously believe the rubbish that wassock David Starkey sprouts about his beloved England
and Sadiq Khan he made a right erse of himself last month , by believing Anas Sarwar former MP and now list MSP( he got via party votes) and letting getting him to write a speech that was a croc of dung
I think you misunderstand the meaning of sovereign. The people of Scotland do not wield ultimate power in Scotland since that very notion disappeared with the act of union. The people of Great Britain wield ultimate power through parliament (Westminster). The devolved government is a regional administration, much like your local council on steroids. I don't mean that to be offensive, it's just how it actually is right now.0 -
Or as I put it, they're a region and England's beyotch. It is precisely because this is exactly true that the SNP is whining.
I'd like Scotland to become independent, fail like Greece, and apply to rejoin the UK so we can laugh and TTFO.0 -
id like scotland to be independent.
I voted for brexit.
I hope london loses the single market more than anything.
I hope the big banks leave london0 -
Spain have declared they would veto an independent Scotland joining the EU
The retaining the membership has advantages of the EU working rules etc etcan independent Scotland would not financially qualify to join the EU given minimum thresholds around GDP.Anyone who genuinely believes indyref2 is about Scotland rejoining the EU or even the EEA for that matter is deluded.0 -
To a certain extent you're correct, but there are proviso to that if Scotland leaves before UK leave EU Scotland gets vetoed,If Scotland leave after or at the same time then it doesn't ,If it leaves after exit it doesn't, the same time one Scotland has an advantage of being an evolution of the current membership(that is the best way I can describe it)
The retaining the membership has advantages of the EU working rules etc etc
You are absolutely deluded if you believe what you just wrote, there is no way in EU law that you can simply take the place of the UK and retain membership within the EU. It's what the SNP wish will happen but they are total lies and propaganda.
If you happen to vote to leave the UK, then you will become a new sovereign nation outside of the EU and will have to apply to join and get in the queue along with the likes Croatia, Serbia, Albania, Macedonia who have been waiting for many years already.0 -
Scotland also won't get the oil or the gas.
The mineral reserves of the North Sea were divided between Norway, Denmark and the UK by treaty in 1965. The UK will continue to exist post-Joxit and therefore the treaty will remain in full force. So the rUK will retain ownership of the oil and gas as per the 1965 treaty unless all parties to it agree to renegotiate it, accepting smaller shares so as to gift a share to Scotland. This, of course, will not happen.
Sorry, jimmy, but there won't be any oil. It's the UK's and you won't be in the UK.0 -

Under 3000 signatures in over two months; popular then.
You need better publicity than these forums to dramatically increase that statistic Mayo.
Let me try to make this clear to both of you.
I don't do petitions.
I don't sign petitions and couldn't care less how many signatures a petition gets.
If it was up to me, that parliamentary petition website would be closed down today. It's populism of the worst kind.Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -
So this whole thing is about you, and your predicament of being over extended,Would you be issuing similar pish ,for that's what it is,against the fragrant May, if you were in England
I can't sell my Mercedes I'll get a petition against somebody. My mate lost £ 500 on the horses ,Who will he star a petition against?
Scottish house value are on the increase BTW and have been since Brexit
For various reasons I can NO longer take part in the Discussion
My best advise hard as it may be......... Is Suck It Up and Move On (or not)0 -

OP has a valid point that indy support refuse to recognise.
When the supply is no longer in demand it will begin to decrease in value. RICS have already come out since Monday and issued warnings on property in Scotland.

Do you agree with what they say about the market slowing because of Brexit? The prospect of another independence referendum runs the risk of adding additional uncertainty for markets, which are already slowing due to the unknown consequences of Brexit.0
