Scart Cable - Is it worth the extra cost

the 25 quid gold plated scart leads cost the retailer about £1.60
you might wanna think about that before buying one.
we used to buy scart leads for 86p yrs ago. (a warehouse in warrington) we had a field day selling em at 10/15 quid!
yes but these people that buy that over the grand mark LCD tv, must buy them (160£) THX scart cables ..because then buying the tv wouldnt be worth it.

Hi,
I have recently got a lcd tv and have connected it to my satelitte box.
I used the old basic scart cable that connected my old chunky tv to it before.
I see that you can buy all sorts of quite expensive cables. Is it worth paying for such a thing. Would there be a big noticable diffrence in picture quality.
Sorry for sounding dumb on this.
Thanks
No. Almost certainly not worth spending more than a fiver.
So long as a cable is fully wired and reasonable quality you won't notice any/much of an improvement by buying a more expensive one.
Make sure it's fully wired, it should say so on the packet. Generally fully wired ones have a thicker cable; part wired ones are usually quite skinny.

LOL!

Yes, it's a wooden volume knob for...$485!!

I wouldn't bother with the gold plated. In my experience what is important is to get an individually screened scart cable which will reduce crosstalk between the signals.
Alternatively if you're seeing 'ghosting' you can remove pin 19 from the tv end of the scart cable as a cheap fix.0 -
thanks everyone for the useful advice here. I'm staggered that stuff can be judged to be worth so much - a wooden knob (no pun intended) for nearly £250!!! - I bet he's laughing all the way to the bank. I can't believe there are such idiots out there that buy them and sit there thinking that's great value?????
On a serious note though I bought the tv through reading reviews and it came out very highly. However if I get close the image looks quite blurry. Now is that normal, I'm new to lcd tv's. When sitting down picture is good and clear. I'm just not sure that this is the norm or if I haven't set it up to its best. As I say the cable looks solid and chuncky bt is about 8/9 yrs old.
