potterton combi 80 boiler, fume extractor fan

My son has just moved house and it has the above boiler which appears to work ok, the only thing is the boiler fume extractor fan is on all the time even when the boiler is not fired up , does anybody know if this is correct ?? ..thanks

    Not normally. Some of the older boilers with permanent pilot lights kept the fan going at a trickle until they came to full flame.

    It's normally indicative of a faulty PCB and should be replaced.
