O/S Daily Tuesday 14 March 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, cloudy and a bit misty, so hoping this means the sun will break out at some point, yesterday was lovely once the sun got out. I have washing to put out on the line, I'll do that shortly.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was stew and dumplings, mash, carrots, leeks and peas. Tonight will be chicken goujons, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.

Work yesterday was another manic day, so busy, loads of customers moaning because they have to wait to be seen etc, also they're not happy with paperwork, how much they have to pay etc. Was a tough day yesterday and we're expecting more of the same today. I'm pleased I'm not working this Saturday!

Keep safe and well x

    Morning :hello:

I feel a bit more productive – I've sorted through and cleaned more things from the hall, washed the basket liners (you can't have too many baskets, lol) and caught up with my spreadsheets. I undercoated the window sills first thing, with the intention of doing another coat in the afternoon. But I found a couple of small holes, so I had to wait for the paint to dry before filling them so couldn't do another coat.

Mr tru has arranged for the carpet fitter to come on saturday – the fireplace isn't built yet because we're still waiting for slate and so the skirting hasn't been fitted along that bit of wall! He said it'll be left loose along there and he can sort it himself afterwards. Now he used to fit carpets so it'll be fine but I had an image in my head of a perfectly done room, which would be finished off nicely with carpet and then we'd be done. Not having to roll it back once it's in, to have carpentry and painting done. There's a warehouse at work, why can't it sit there til the room is ready? Some of his customers buy flooring and store it there for a couple of weeks, why can't we? Or am I being too fussy?

I'll get another coat of paint on the sills today, I'm hoping to get away with just one but they'll probably need two. I'll attempt the skirting but not sure I can manage it, but at least the undercoat is done. The shopping is being delivered mid-morning. I have two loads of dry washing on the airer which need putting away and one load to go in the machine. The floors need hoovering and sweeping. Scampi will need to be taken down the road three or four times for a wee. Can someone come and help me today please? :D

Good morning and thank you for the thread nmlc.

I shall be heading out to work shortly, another day another dollar, that's the best I can say this week. I worked late yesterday but should finish at a more sensible time today.
Trying to renew my granny pass but you are meant to phone if you have moved and just get stuck in an endless loop of jangly fake muzak and a disembodied voice informing me how important my call is to the. Well clearly it isn't, though it is important to me. I'll have to traipse in and see if I can do it in person.
Last night, because of being late, OH and DS had a big meaty meal and I made my own later on. Mushroom and cheese omelette with a mixed leaf salad, was delicious. Tonight, they will be out when I come in so I'll cook, chicken curry. We have a charity fundraising samosa sale at work today so I will try to nab some to go with the meal. We raise quite a lot for a range of causes, currently it is for the liver unit at the children's hospital.
I must get a wiggle on, bum in gear etc. But am just not all that motivated today, or yesterday really. But it will be fine when I get there.

Hope everyone has a good day.

It's almost time I set off for work, it feels chilly this morning.
I am collecting 2 of the DGD's from school and taking them to dance class and by the time the class has finished and I've taken them home it's nearly 5, then I can come home and start wading through my list of jobs, including some paid for sewing.
I finally made it to Ikea and bought the hanging storage for the cutlery on the boat, ye gods the place is huge, I wouldn't want to have to go there very often.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Very breezy out with passing showers, as long as they pass it'll be fine!

HH - You get used to Ikea after a while!
    Condolences to you Gers.
    Hang in there tru.

Walked down to the little town after work to see if the shoe menders could sew the handle back on a leather bag - it was closed, I'll try again today. I did take the glass to the bottle bank so that's out of the way and got a bit of fresh air.

Bedding spinning in the machine at present, I'll hang up when it's finished. Main bathroom got a good bleaching last night, as did my feet!

RR - DD is moving in with her BF so the flat will be up for rent once it's ready. So glad I did all that painting for someone else!
Good luck with the house searching Speky.

Have a good Tuesday. Take care. XX

Up early again even though I don't need to be.

No work today but taking the long walk/bus journey to go and collect my new glasses and pay for them :(. It's been an expensive month so far what with dentist visits, new glasses and various other bills..It's going to be a struggle now till next pay day :(

Not sure what I'll do after getting my glasses, I think I may just come straight home again as I can't risk going shopping and spending any money..we shall see.

Have a good day all and take care :)

Morning folks and thanks NMLC for starting off. TRU I'll be with you in spirit!!

The skyline was beautiful at dawn, glowing red, but it's now been replaced by murk. It's supposed to take up come lunchtime. The wind is still with us too.

Being a Tuesday it's bus ride day! Trying not to dwell on scan results etc. Today we are off to Hebden Bridge as not been for a while and it's a lovely run over the moorland. Plan A is a walk along the canal towpath and back into HB for a late lunch. If the murk stays with us then it will be Plan B! Poke my nose in some of the lovely little specialist shops (just for a browse, though I do have some birthday money if I see anything tempting!) and then late lunch. We've had a little Italian place recommended, which we've not been in before, so may try that.

So a no cooking day, other than a snack this evening. There's a couple of jacket spuds in the fridge which I could warm back up and fill with tuna mayo.

Have a good day if you can and (HUGS) for the poorlies, sad or worried who want one. Take care all xx

Editing with a ps for AOD. We can renew our old codgers bus pass on line. Is that not an option for you? Much easier. Or does the change of address scupper that idea?!

Good Morning chums another bright sunny daybreak today ,fingers crossed it lasts :) I have coffee morning at Dobbies this morning with U3A then off to the hairdressers for my overdue trim.Since I had chemo when my hair grew back it now grows very quickly and it needs trimming around every 5-6 weeks. its also very thick so when the weather brightens up its like wearing a furry hat :):):) its gotta go :) Tuna salad for lunch to use up some of my tinned stash I shall mix it with some sweetcorn and a hefty dollop of chilli mayo.Half today for lunch and the other half tomorrow on a jacket spud.

Quiz night tonight and I get fed there in with the price of the quiz so no cooking for me.

My sis-in-law in Faversham rang last night and asked me out for a belated dinner this Saturday night so I am off down there overnight.I haven't had a chance to see her since before Christmas as she went to stay with my niece in Mexico for three months over the worst of the winter, so I am looking forward to a good catch-up.

Happy birthday to those celebrating, and Hugs for those who are down and blue

Have a good day everyone what ever you are doing

    JackieO xx

P.S. I had a F/time from my DGS in the US apparently he is in Tampa until Thursday with work and today 20 inches of snow are due in New York :):) so he will miss the worst of it. !!!

    Morning everyone.

There was heavy rain all night so I'm hoping for a dry day. My day ahead will be be doing important but really boring stuff! Which is exactly why I've put it all off for ages!

I also need to make a list of 'things to do' as I've got a friend coming to visit next weekend and the guest bedroom still has loads of stuff in it which have been dumped out of sight. Will I ever learn.

There's eggs to use up which will have to do as I've not taken anything out of the freezer.

    Happy Tuesday to all.

    Good morning everyone,

Very windy here this morning but dry for now.

Yesterday happened as every Monday does. Work followed by badminton. A NSD too actually.

Today is work followed by my 2nd viewing. Elona, I've been and driven to the flat at different times to see how busy it is etc. I think tonight I'll make her a verbal offer and see how it goes. Be sure to update you all in the morning.

Not much else planned. I swore to myself when I woke up this morning that I'd have an early night tonight but we'll see how I feel.

    Have a nice day everyone.
