How to get direct debit info from a closed bank account?

Please help, I'm trying to find out a reference number from my old bank account. My Barclays account has been closed for many years but I need to find a reference number so I can claim ppi from black horse finance. I paid them via my Barclays current account I have my barclay account number but they say it's too old to help me!!
