What car should I buy

I am looking for a new car to replace a 3 year old Suzuki Swift
It must be an Automatic (either Torque Converter or DSG type)
It must be able to achieve an average of at least 40mpg
It must be petrol
And it must cost less than £17k
It must have a decent sized boot - unlike my Swift (to take a mobility scooter)

The only one that I can come up with is a new Suzuki Baleno !!

Have a look at an Octavia estate, very big boot (not sure how big it needs to be for a mobility scooter).

Looking at Broadspeed.com you could get the 1.0l Petrol (115 bhp) DSG version within budget if you are after a brand new car.

I've got a mobility scooter too, and I've just bought a Honda Jazz. The boot and luggage space is amazing, we call it the Tardis as it takes so much luggage for a small car.

I think it would tick all your other requirement boxes as well, so worth a look.

Yes, but try one if the latest ones - they've improved a lot.

My Seat Ibiza ticks all of your boxes except the big boot - but then it comes in an estate which would tick that.

The Skoda Yeti might also be an option. You would have to haggle on the price or use a broker.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

There is a new Swift out soon with a "bigger boot"

Targeting the new Ford Fiesta, which is also due to go on sale in summer, the third-generation Swift will be built on the larger Baleno platform. The new car is actually slightly shorter than the old one, but extra length in the wheelbase boosts cabin space by 25 per cent and boot space by around the same percentage to a new figure of 254 litres.
